University Choir Lille MUKO

Classical choir in Copenhagen – University Choir Lille MUKO

The University Choir Lille MUKO is a prominent classical choir from Copenhagen. The choir consists of current and former music students as well as other qualified singers.

The choir was founded in 1967 and is an offshoot of MUKO, which is the University of Copenhagen’s choir of music students. Lille MUKO still has ties to the University of Copenhagen, where the choir often serves a representative role at official events.

Through recordings, national and international activities, the choir works to promote awareness of especially Danish and Scandinavian choral music.

  • The Beauties of Britain

Join Lille MUKO on a journey to Great Britain, where we celebrate the magnificent and beautiful British choral tradition.

The British have always, in a sense, stood a little apart—separated from the continent by the sea, yet at the same time in a self-chosen isolation, keenly aware of their own worth and strength.
This dual isolation has shaped more than just politics and culture; it has also given British music a unique sound, best understood by listening to it, singing it, and performing it. It is as if a special melodic quality flows through British music, from the early virginalists—such as Thomas Tallis—through Romantic composers like Elgar and Stanford, and right up to our own time with Benjamin Britten and John Tavener.

We have selected a programme that takes us through composers from different periods, united by the concert’s title: “The Beauties of Britain.”

We will perform the programme at Kildevæld Church on March 12 at 7:00 pm, at Tårnby Church on March 14 at 4:00 pm, and on April 20 at Rønnevang Church in Taastrup at 7:30 pm.
